I really do like what it is you and the Foundation do. I think it’s, uh, the bee’s knees. You guys do things I’d never want to touch, you know, containing eldritch horrors and such. I, uh, I just wish you weren’t so quick to squash the little inventors. Given enough time, even anomalous technology becomes mainstream. I mean, Christ, if we were cavemen, you guys would try to contain fire because it would be too spooky for your tastes. Do you know what I’m saying?

–Vincent Anderson.[1]

Well, uh, I’m not going to kill you, if that’s what you think. You guys all seem to think I’m some kind of James Bond villain when I’m just a small business owner.

–Anderson to Sasha Merlo.[2]

But I do know that Vincent Anderson is one of the most dangerous men on the planet, a sociopathic genius who doesn't give a damn about the laws of man or nature, who can't be allowed to walk free. For god's sake, he tried to take over the US government with robots!

–Agent Merlo to Agent Robin Thorne.[3]

Vincent Robert Anderson (born November 15th, 1968 or way before 1963[4]) is the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of the paranormal technology development firm Anderson Robotics.

Brought to the attention of the SCP Foundation in 2007, Anderson was originally listed as PoI-1115. After the capture of his original body, the heavily augmented thaumaturgist was redesignated as SCP-3860.

Description[]

Prior to his augmentations Vincent Anderson stood 175 cm tall and weighed 150 kg. He originally possessed natural green eyes, black hair and ears.

Over the course of Anderson Robotics' rise, Anderson used his thaumaturgist abilities and technological know-how to make a series of augmentations to his body.

  • Prosthetics arms and legs constructed from aluminum, PMMA, polycarbonate casings, and white aramid fibers. Without any discernible power source, the limbs are connected to SCP-3860's central nervous system via a network of thin cobalt-chromium alloy wires. The prototypes of SCP-2806.
    • A thin, articulate cable ejecting from the palm of the hand. Capable of piercing through flesh and kevlar, the conductive wire is weaponized by administering painful electric shocks.
    • A mechanism where, by use of the "finger gun" motion, electric bolts are fired from the index and ring fingers.
  • Mechanical eyes with a complex series of optical lenses. Numerous thaumatological symbols are embedded into the lenses.
  • A single grated orifice in place of his nose.
  • Grafts of white aramid fibers over various locations on the torso, growing over SCP-3860's scar tissue. The prototype of SCP-1360-1.
  • Synthetic liver and kidneys.
  • Complete removal of hair.
  • A series of augmentations to various regions of the brain relevant to thaumaturgy, including the frontal lobe, parietal lobe, and cerebellum.

After the changes to his face, Anderson came to wear a Venetian-style mask. By taping on the mask, the face would change between the "comedy" and "tragedy" expressions.

History[]

Not much is known about the early life of Vincent Anderson, but what is known is that he probably descended from rich manufacturer, American Civil War veteran and millennialist William Christopher Anderson.[5] He also had a younger brother by seven years named Adrian Anderson who he looked after.[6]

Possible Origins[]

SCP-4760[]

At some point in time, Vincent Anderson had been part of the SCP Foundation's O5 Council, serving as O5-3, alongside Aaron Siegel, Sophia Light and several others. During his time in the Foundation he constructed a time machine that allowed the user to see the future most likely to occur. Anderson eventually left the Foundation and presumably was given amnestics to forget about his time with the Council. He was then replaced by Hyun-Ki, The Child.[7]

In the year 1963, Anderson, before utilizing magic, was commissioned by Obadiah Dark of Marshall, Carter, and Dark Ltd. to construct a machine capable of remote viewing to rival the SCP Foundation's All-Seeing Eye. Anderson decided to use a Vietnamese woman, who he nicknamed Kalysto, he had bought as a test subject to use her in this project. He and his team proceeded to replace her eyes with ocular implants and hook her to a machinery that would allow the user to see what she sees. However, as the project progressed, Kalysto was overwhelmed by the amount of information, forcing Anderson to build a large solar panel for additional energy which could make the process easier. Despite the project showing promising results, Mr. Dark was not satisfied as he wished to also look through time, which required even more work. To his surprise, one day Kalysto managed to show Anderson the moment he had bought in Vietnam some time ago, which greatly excited him but left her severely exhausted.

In 1970, after properly finishing the project Anderson was ready to present it to Dark. When the day came he demonstrated how Kalysto could see back in time. She showed an exchange between Ulysses Sate and two other men talking about Bertrand Wondertainment letting the Department of Abnormalities contain Mr. Silence and transporting something else in his ship. Seeing that Kalysto was able to partially manifest herself at that time Dark violently demanded her to kill Ulysses while pushing Anderson aside. This greatly enraged Kalysto and soon she went back in time and killed Dark's mother before he could be born, causing him to cease to exist. She was able to do this by using the panel to absorb the life force of every creature near, prompting Anderson to leave the place immediately as his face melted off. He managed to escape into his laboratory where he drilled a crudely made metal mask before explaining to his officer Issac what was going. After covering the panel with dirt and abandoning the island where the project had taken place, MC&D paid him $755,000,000 despite the catastrophe.[4]

Founding Anderson Robotics[]

In a unknown point in time, Anderson met and married Jill Herring, an art teacher from a high school. Together they conceived a daughter they named Erica. However, Anderson eventually left his family to not only pursue his own career, but to keep his now-ex-wife and daughter safe from his enemies. Jill would marry a man named Tom, while Anderson sent them checks to help them financially, though both Tom and Jill felt uncomfortable over this.[6]

At some point in the early 1990s, Anderson visited Europe and discovered schematics of Jean Durand. Reverse-engineering the schematics, Anderson created a simple artificial intelligence to pilot a small, orb-shaped robot with retractable legs, naming the droid "Benny".

On July 14th, 1994, Anderson invited his friend Albert Frostman for coffee at a café in downtown Portland, Oregon. At their meeting, Anderson revealed Benny to Frostman, who was impressed by the creation. Expressing ideas of selling reconnaissance droids, Anderson explained to Frostman his plans to start a robotics company with him, and promised Frostman that he could name the products. Convinced, Frostman joined Anderson in the founding Anderson Robotics.

On January 10th, 1998, both Anderson and Frostman went to visit Medea Contos and her adopted son Jason Contos in their apartment in Seattle. They hoped for the mother and son duo to join their newly founded company since they were both geniuses originating from the universe of Alexylva University. Anderson was able to learn about after discovering one of her creations, a black disc that can project holograms and absorb the knowledge of those who touch it. At first Medea was unsure, but her son convinced her to join.

By December 17th, 2002, Anderson had modified his body, bearing little resemblance to his original self. Anderson and Frostman met with ex Prometheus Labs AI specialist Jeffrey Wilson in his home in Beaverton, as he could help give their robots intelligence and the ability to think. Although Wilson was impressed by their Peregrine series, he at first refused to join them, stating that him manufacturing AIs would be impossible due to the technology simply not being that advanced yet. Anderson decided to show Wilson his schematics about the Saker project he'd been working on, and told him that thanks to thaumaturgy, they had the technology he required, urged Wilson to join so he could recreate his deceased son Miles. This convinced the grieving scientist to join.

On May 9th, 2003, through one of his patrons, Jericho Hill, Anderson learned about businessman Isaac Dillard and sought to recruit in order to properly manage their business. They met in San Francisco where Phineas attempted to Dillard onboard by offering a great salary and discount on their products, including ones the public didn't have access to, but Anderson interject and offered a deal to Dillard that if he joined them he would get rid of the mob boss known as Sycamore Gordon who had been going after Dillard for a while. When offered this deal, Dillard agreed to join, satisfying Anderson, while Frostman was somewhat concerned.[9]

The Elusive Anderson[]

As the SCP Foundation went after Anderson Robotics for over a decade due to the company sending Saker #76 to infiltrate the Foundation by replacing Dr. Gregg Collins and destroying PSHUD #31,[10] MTF Gamma-13 led by Agent Sasha Merlo were deployed from Site-64 to launch an attack on Anderson after acquiring some information from Jericho. The MTF attacked a warehouse near the Willamette River where Phineas and a Saker unit of Miles were selling their products, but only Phineas managed to escape while Miles was captured.[1]

Wanting to get Miles back, Anderson called Merlo on her phone, announcing that he would get him back.[2] A few days later, Anderson breached Site-64 and waited for Merlo in her office. When she went back to her office, Anderson greeted her before immediately throwing a glob of orange slime at her arms, blocking them in their place as it hardened around them. Anderson then properly introduced himself and his bot Benny to her, and proceeded to summon a horde of Amur Drones that incapacitated every Foundation personnel on their way and soon broke Miles out. With Miles retrieved, Anderson returned to the Anderson Robotics Headquarters where his board of directors awaited him and had Jeffrey, Mile's father, deactivate the Saker replica of his son. Once that was over, Anderson convinced his co-directors in accepting Skitter Marshall's offer, except for Phineas who detested MC&D.[11]

Capture in Three Portlands[]

On the night of September 19th, 2018, the employees of Anderson Robotics and their MC&D associates gathered at the company headquarters to celebrate the production of the 10,000th Gyrfalcon series prosthetic. Anderson used the gathering to unveil Frostman's newest creation: the Taita Series Security Droid. After giving the stage to Frostman, Frostman denounced everyone as "hobnobbing bastards", and destroyed the Taita prototype before walking out on the company.

Anderson followed Frostman out to the rooftop, joining him for a smoke as he questioned his old friend for his actions. When Frostman outright declared quits, Anderson led three Peregrine droids armed with high-caliber pistols to keep him from coming out alive. Anderson sardonically bid Frostman farewell as the estranged co-founder escaped and fled into the heart of Three Portlands. Anderson continued to run the company in Frostman's absence, the two conspiring against each other.[9]

On his fiftieth birthday, Anderson was informed that Medea and Jason had been captured by the Foundation, the two lured into a trap by Frostman. Recognizing Frostman's part in their capture, Anderson found and ambushed Frostman in his apartment. Killing Frostman, Anderson used the dead man's phone to text Agent Merlo, telling her to ready herself before he set the apartment on fire.[12]

Anderson left Benny behind as he approached the Tristan Academy of the Arts, an abandoned school in the outskirt of Three Portlands, and the location where Gamma-13 was allegedly housing Medea and Jason. He proceeded to perform a spell that caused the building's lights to blackout. Anderson then summoned a group Peregrine Androids to barge into the building and attack the MTF. The robots were dealt by Agent Shaw and her teammates in the main hall, but Anderson quickly made his way to them, taking out most of them except for Shaw. Taking her gun away from her, Anderson demanded Shaw to tell him where the Contos were. She told him that they were in the auditorium, and as gratitude for compliance Anderson shoot out from his hand a wire that pierced through her torso, avoiding damaging her organs, and taking of her spine, forcing her body to move as he wished.

He brought Shaw with him; however, upon entering the auditorium they only found two empty chairs. This infuriated Anderson who destroyed Shaw's spine, crippling her, before throwing her at the seats. He was then confronted by Merlo and Agent Navarro, both equipped with guns, and when he demanded to know about the Contos' location Navarro unleashed lighting that sent Anderson to the other side of the room. He quickly got back up on his feet and attempted to fight back but found that they were gone, prompting him to furiously pursue them. He chased Navarro down to a locker room where he threw his blue slime to melt the lockers to reveal the Agent. Navarro used his thaumaturgy to attack Anderson and get away from him, but was snatched by Anderson's wire. Anderson lunged over Navarro to stab him with another wire, but was blocked by Navarro's hand, cutting his it off and piercing his shoulder instead. This proved to be a mistake on Anderson's part, as Navarro grabbed him and manifested flames which engulfed the cyborg.

This allowed Navarro to get from him and reunite with his fellow agents in the auditorium, while Anderson regained himself. Just as he entered through the door, Anderson shoot him with both his lightning and orange slime, incapacitating him. As he was about to kill Navarro, Merlo shoot him in his chest before threatening him that if he killed one of them their linked kill agents would result in deaths of both Medea and Jason. Not wanting to risk, Anderson let go of Navarro and went to the stage where he found the Contos strapped to the previously empty chairs. As he made his way to the stage he apologized to Medea and Jason for failing to protect them and promised to not let it happen again. Before going to them, Anderson ordered Merlo to release them and bring them to him to which she begrudgingly obliged. Luckily, as Merlo undid Medea's restraints Navarro got hold of his shotgun and attempted to shoot Anderson. Anderson moved quickly and threw another glob of orange slime, but was unsuccessful to block the shot as both were hit. This stunned Anderson long enough for Merlo to tackle him down, falling between Medea and Jason.

Merlo tried to attack him, but Anderson grabbed her throat and began suffocating her until throwing her across the stage. Suddenly, the glyphs set on the chairs by Navarro activated, trapping the Contos and Anderson in place. The glyphs were based on Phineas' design which teleported Anderson to Site-64 where his body immediately shut down and entered a stasis, while the Contos were transported to their homes. Taken under the containment of the Foundation, but was able to evade imprisonment by transferring his consciousness into Saker-101 that resembled his original human form. He confronted Medea, Jason, Jeffrey and Isaac who were discussing replacing him as the company's director. He explained that he was still connected to his original body before introducing them a replica of Frostman who would continue help them.[13] However, as he still held respect for his former friend and partner, Anderson decided to destroy Phineas' Saker replica and just keep his AI.[6]

Since the Foundation believed that they had imprisoned him, Anderson operated his company in secret. On January 18th, 2020, he and Isaac visited on of their employees from Three Portlands' Distribution Center Rebecca Quinn in St. Vincent's Hospital, after she had lost her legs due to accident involving one of their products, and gave some prosthetics to help her with walk again, despite Isaac's concern over the cost. On March 23rd, he met with his ex-wife and offered her one of his checks to sustain her family, and learned that his daughter was graduating from Oregon State University with a bachelor's degree in computer science, but their conversation soon heated when Jill accused him of being selfish before storming off. On May 6th, Anderson visited his brother Adrian and his family, playing with his nephews for a bit before talking to Adrian and his wife. The couple appreciated Anderson visiting them, and as their anniversary was getting near he offered to pair for their trip, but Adrian and Phoebe asked for him join them. Taken aback by this invitation, Anderson accepted it.

Not wanting to raise suspicions, Anderson went back to his old body on August 14th, to make it appear like he was indeed imprisoned. Two days later he was interviewed by Shaw, interrogating him about the new head of the company, the names of MC&D representatives, the identities of other political figures replaced with Saker units and the exact nature of the Taita Series. Anderson decided to make a bargain in which he would be willing to give information in exchange for parts to repair his body. On August 19th, Anderson in his android body visited Merlo's home where he met her husband Gabriel Merlo and their daughter Jessie Merlo. He ended having a nice time with Merlo's family, even giving Jessie a little droid for her to play and as he was about to leave he gave Gabe his card for Sasha, informing her he was still free. Three days later, Anderson conversed with Phineas' AI, wanting to make feel comfortable, but the AI scolded him, telling Anderson that he was a selfish individual who deluded himself in believing he was generous. Irritated by this, Anderson turned the computer off and asked Benny if he was a good man, trying to have the droid comfort him.[6]

His body was eventually taken to Site-19 where he would be designated SCP-3860 and locked up in a Type S Anti-Thaumatological Humanoid Anomaly Containment Cell in the site's High Security Humanoid Containment Wing. Because of the damage he sustained he would receive thaumaturgical and mechanical parts for repair while always being under observation for potential containment breaches.[14]

Destruction of Saker-101[]

On May 24th, 2024, having learned that Anderson had evaded capture, the Foundation and the Unusual Incidents Unit sent Gamma-13, MTT Tau-51 and JTF Delta-3 to raid the Anderson Robotics Headquarters. As the Foundation/UIU forces raided the company, Anderson tried to get away through the headquarters rooftop, but was confronted by Shaw and Agents Carter and Sherman. Although it appeared the agents cornered him Anderson threw himself from the rooftop, while Benny attempted to distract Shaw, resulting in her destroying the droid. Upon reaching the ground, Anderson tried to get away and lose his chasers through a nearby alleyway, only to be held at gunpoint by the UIU agents led by Kenneth Spencer and Robin Thorne. He battled the UIU, taking one of their rifles and killing everyone on sight, though he sustained heavy damage. Before he could leave, Spencer revealed himself to still be alive and got hold of his leg, allowing Thorne to slam him to a wall. Shaw soon arrived and gave Anderson a solution for him to melt his body. Accepting his defeat, Anderson destroyed his Saker body, forcing him to remain trapped in his original body.

As he was imprisoned within the site his company was completely dissolved. At his request, Merlo went to talk to Anderson, demanding to know where Dr. Contos and Dillard were since the other board members had been taken care of. However, Anderson revealed to her that he had used a modified version of the Church of Maxwellism's neural network to exchange thoughts with his Amur droids, and knowing that Anderson Robotics would inevitably go down he had his droids implant the schematics of the company's products to various scientists, engineers and doctors all over the world, allowing for robotic and cybernetic creations similar to Anderson's to surface and thus rendering the technology nonanomalous.[15]

A few months after, Anderson was interviewed by Researcher Rose Labelle in order to learn how he managed to modify himself in such a way. Anderson refused, only stating that the reason he did it was to elevate himself, becoming something more than human, and told her he would never tell them the manner he was able to do it.

By February 2nd, 2027, Anderson began requesting for more and more technological and thaumaturgical parts to replace the worn out pieces in his body. Shaw attempted to use this by telling Anderson that if he wanted more parts then he had to help the Foundation claim the remainder of Anderson Robotics' prosthetics that were still in possession of MC&D's customers by remotely deactivating them, but he told her that would be impossible as the prosthetics couldn't be deactivated from afar. Disappointed Shaw turned to leave, but Anderson stopped her, informing her that there was a chance those people could end up within SCP-3560.[14]

After learning that his daughter recently married Luke Lister, Anderson vomitted scraps of metal which he used to construct an Amur drone that would serve to deliver a message to her, wanting to tell her how he regretted leaving her and her mother and glad that they lived happily without him. Upon sending it outside of his cell, the antimagic precautions activated, restraining Anderson. Labelle interviewed him over this action, wanting to know why he did it and it would have consequences. Anderson assured her that nothing big would happen as he only wanted to send a message to someone.[16] By February 15th, 2038, Anderson ceased to request for parts, having figured he was buying himself just a little bit of time. On November 15th, 2040, Anderson requested to talk to Merlo, offering to reveal the schematics of his augmentations in exchange for another request. In the interview, Anderson asked for the Phineas' AI to be destroyed as he knew that was what he wanted. When Merlo asked him the reason for the request, he wished to do the right thing, but she told him that there was no guarantee.[14]

End of Line[]

While resting in his containment chamber, Anderson was suddenly broken out by a group of Peregrine units and transported to the Wanderer's Library through a Way.[17] There he met with a big group of more Peregrine units led by Aaron Howell of the Church of Maxwellism. He and the robots explained to Anderson that they broke him out to help them construct a machine that would help the deceased robots stuck in SCP-3560 to transform into pure data and ascend to WAN's realm. At first Anderson was unsure of collaborating with them, but Howell then revealed to him that because Anderson had become more android than human he just like his robots would end up in 3560 after his eventual death and would have to deal with those he had forsaken. This convinced Anderson to help them and form a plan to secretly garner the parts to construct the machine. In his research in building the device he was reunited with Dillard who gave him the schematics for PROMETHEUS PL-76 SHIVA that could help Anderson. Anderson asked for Medea, Dillard telling that she and another former Anderson Robotics employee founded their own company, but Anderson asked to send a message to her the latter refused to deliver any message as it would uncover his location and damage the business. However, they were secretly spied on by an old Navarro under the guise of a Library patron who reported Anderson's plan to Jessie who had become a Foundation agent.[18]

Anderson was able to build a Data Transmutation prototype, and after having an Amur drone converted into an AI he deemed the device ready. Figuring that the Foundation already knew of their next step in their plan, Anderson asked Howell if they could form a Way near the last remaining portal to SCP-3560 in Ridgewood Park for inorganic beings. Upon conjuring this specific Way, Anderson accompanied by Juniper, Troy, Donny, Ashley, and Cecil among other Peregrines and Sakers made their way to the portal with the Data Transmuter. Unfortunately for them, the group was attacked by the UIU led by Saker #137, one of Sakers that were loyal to Phineas, and despite putting a fight Anderson was successfully captured, though some Peregrines and Sakers managed to bring the device into 3560. In the UIU's interrogation room, Anderson tried to argue with Agent Thorne, but Benny's apparition suddenly appeared, signaling the arrival of the robots' spectres from 3560. The spectres quickly barged in getting hold of Anderson and bringing him into their afterlife.[19]

Taken to 3560, Anderson was brought before a group of Peregrines and Sakers who had lost their lives due to his disregards of them. Led by a maddened Saker #76, the deceased robots sought to judge Anderson for their mistreatment. Though PSHUD #31 attempted to interject, Saker #76 was undeterred and it was about to judge Anderson, Juniper crashed the gathering, telling her fellow robots that Anderson had developed the means to help them leave this limbo and pass to a better place. To add to this, Anderson offered to willingly surrender himself to them if they helped get hold of Phineas' AI and finally put him down. They soon prepared to assault Site-64, but as Anderson sent Benny to retrieve the flash drive containing the AI Saker #137 blew their cover to shoot Anderson from the back before fleeing. Despite being heavily injuried, Anderson was determined to go to Site-64, accompanied by PSHUD #31.[20]

Inside Site-64, Anderson used his slimes to incapacitate the agents coming near him, while waiting for Benny to return. As Anderson was growing weaker due to old age and failing parts in his body, PSHUD #31 helped him on his stand on his feet, until one of the Foundation agents managed to shoot #31, causing it to return to 3560. Soon, Benny arrived, and Anderson quickly made his to the room containing the AI. Sadly, as soon as he opened the door he was met with an older Sasha Merlo. Having had enough of him she shot him numerous times with shotgun, killing him as revenge for destroying her's and her loved ones' lives. As she was about to celebrate her victory, a saddened Benny decided to complete its master's last wish and quickly entered the laptop containing the AI, allowing Phineas to die at last. Now that he was dead, Anderson found himself trapped within 3560 where Saker #76 and its fellow robots eagerly waited for him. Anderson tried to fight back but it was of no use as they were all dead, leaving the robots to punish their creator for as long as they wished.[21]

Personality[]

Anderson is an extreme individual, being both generous and empathic, but also vindictive and cold. He is a manipulative individual to his subordinates and is hard to tell when he is showing genuine kindness to others (although he is capable of this) as often sees most people around him as means to an end.
